In Loving Memory of Richard Dean Van Duren

Richard Dean Van Duren, 82, of La Palma, California, passed away on August 17, 2026. Rick was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to James and Mae Van Duren. He is survived by his loving wife, Luz Van Duren.

Rick was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Greenhalgh, along with his nieces and nephews, as well as Luz’s sisters, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sheryl Amos. His sisters, Mary Lou and Sheryl, were an important part of Rick’s life, and their family bond will always be remembered with love.

Rick attended grade school in Oskaloosa, Iowa, before moving to Phoenix, Arizona, where he completed high school and earned a degree in Accounting. He later earned his MBA from UCLA.

Throughout his career, Rick worked in the airline and medical industries before becoming a realtor, a profession he continued until his retirement.

Rick will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. The memories they shared and the love he gave throughout his life will remain treasured by all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched.

May Rick rest in peace, surrounded forever by the love of his family.

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held on September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Anaheim Christian Reformed Church.
