Marquita F. Goldson

Marquita Goldson was born and raised in Manhattan, NY, where she worked on Wall Street for several years. Marquita’s family later moved to Long Island where she worked in accounting. At age 40, Marquita’s family grew when she married her husband, who had two children of his own, and had two children together. Marquita and her husband then moved their family to Chatsworth, CA, where Marquita quit work and became a homemaker. Once Marquita’s children got older, she and her husband opened a child-care business. At their daycare they cared for children 3 months - 2.5 years old and Marquita was known as Nanna. Seventeen years after they opened their business, Marquita’s husband became ill and they had to close. After her husband’s death, Marquita did volunteer work at West Hills Hospital.

In 2010, Marquita moved to an Adult Community in Orange County so she could be near her family and in 2018 she moved to an Adult Retirement Community. Marquita later had a stroke which resulted in her moving to a Board & Care facility before her passing.

Marquita had many interests including community activities, raising her children, music, eating out, holiday decorating, gardening, crochet and knitting, ceramic painting, jewelry making, sudoku, Senior Trips, and visiting with family, especially her granddaughter and great-nieces. Marquita is described by her loved ones as being sensitive, having firm beliefs and strong opinions, a strong parent with a hard exterior and soft heart, family oriented, having lots of love, highly organized, friendly, treated others as she wished to be treated, punctual, hard worker, honest, and feisty.

Some of Marquita’s famous quotes include:

“I love you around the world and back again.”

“Don’t throw out your dirty water until you have clean water to replace it.”

“Wear clean underwear because you might get in an accident.”

Marquita loved and was loved by her children Gina Marie, Kevin, and Stephanie, one granddaughter; Vanessa, niece; Nancy, and several other nieces and nephews.
