Iris Wybenga

In Loving Memory of Iris Wybenga 

Iris passed away on September 19, 2026 at the age of 95. While we feel the deep pain of this loss, we also give thanks for the years we were blessed to share with her. 

Iris was born on August 12, 1931 in Sibley, Iowa to John and Nellie Pap. She was the second child, with older brother Arnold, sisters Rosemary and Marjorie and brother Morris. 

In 1941 the family moved from Iowa to California where Iris attended Bellflower Christan School. During her Jr. and Sr. years of High School, she was involved with Youth for Christ. During this time is when she gave her life to the Lord. 

Iris met John Wybenga and they were married in 1949. Together they had four children: Karla Anema (Ron), Nona Jorritsma Smits (Tony), Craig Wybenga (Donna) and Lyn Gardner. 

Iris spent many years as a Bible Study Fellowship Leader and Administrator and also as a Coffee Break Leader in her home church of Bethany Christian Reformed Church. Although she is no longer with us in person, the lessons she taught, the love she gave and the memories created will remain with us. 

She lost her beloved husband, John in 2003.
